How do you tell them apart?

Not well, apparently. Twice now I've taken a photo of Evelyn and mistakenly told people it was Anna. So here's how to tell them apart:

  • Evelyn's hair is slightly more blonde.  Most of the time.
  • Anna's cartilage of the septum is slightly longer than Evelyn's.  This gives her nostrils a somewhat more downward-pointing orientation.  Or, another way to put it is that Evelyn has a pug nose and Anna doesn't, except to the extent that all babies do to some degree.
  • Evelyn weighs 10 oz more than Anna.
  • Anna wears the pink hat; Evelyn wears the purply-periwinkle one.
  • Evelyn is more likely to be asleep at any given moment.
  • Anna is far more likely to have spat up on herself.  (Not reliable as an identifier -- use this to cross-validate another indicator above.)
  • Anna is six minutes older and is therefore slightly more bossy.  She will probably also be boy-crazy a little sooner.
That's about it for now.  We hope they will soon distinguish themselves from each other on a more nuanced and multilayered basis, such as cat person/dog person, or "Beatles or Elvis?"
